covid-19 updates

As things continue to change rapidly and new information is uncovered, we are working diligently to ensure a safe and welcoming space for all who wish to join our in-person classes. Please check back often for updates, subscribe to our mailing list, or reach out the good ol' fashioned way...we are so grateful to serve this community and our ears, minds, and hearts are open to your suggestions.

CURRENT NOTICE, January 2023: Classes are considered mask optional unless otherwise designated. All capacity caps have been lifted. â€‹

History of Changes:

On 3/17/20 Closed for all in-person classes until further notice.

On 7/7/20, we are open for a limited in-person schedule, as well as several live-streamed classes. Online classes will continue by donation, while in-person classes will return to regular rates.

On 8/3/20, we were again advised to close our doors for in person classes and await further instruction.

On 8/17/20, Governor Cuomo issued a statement that local authorities will be in charge of permitting studios to open by September 2nd. We are awaiting an inspection and adjusting our protocol to meet new, higher standards of procedure. For now, we are available via ZOOM as well as weekly classes at the park!

As of 9/7/20, we are in the process of being inspected for resuming in-studio classes. Given the recent surge in local cases, we've given our teachers the option to "opt-out" of teaching any classes currently scheduled, though we will try to cover as many as we can to avoid an interruption in service. Thank you for your patience as we support our teachers so that they can continue to be there for your support too!

On 9/21/20, The studio re-opened (again!) for indoor yoga classes.  In an effort to focus our energy on indoor classes, all online classes are currently suspended. The rules and recommendations listed below are strictly observed. Additionally, the state of New York requires that patrons wear a face covering throughout the duration of class, so we can no longer allow you to remove your mask on the mat.  Classes will be adjusted keeping this in mind. We will continue to advocate for the ability to remove face coverings when safe social distance can be maintained, but until then we are following all federal, state, and local ordinances.

On June 1st 2021, under CDC/NYS/Otsego County guidance and community survey results, we have concluded that mask wearing is optional for clients who provide proof of full vaccination status (via vaccination card or NYS Excelsior Pass).  Classes will remain socially distanced (6ft between mats) until further notice. This requirement is true of all indoor and outdoor offerings. Our cleaning protocols will also remain, though clients may use props at their own discretion. Class reservations are still required and walk-ins are highly discouraged.

On August 17th 2021, we have returned to a robust mask mandate for all clients regardless of vaccination status. This comes as Otsego and surrounding counties are in the midst of a delta variant surge and under the strong recommendations of our local health officials. If and when we are declassified as a "high transmission" area, we will return to previous policy for masking. Social distance remains at 6ft between all mats, and props are available at your discretion.

In February 2022, the CDC updated the metrics used to calculate community transmission risk; With Otsego County now categorized as a low risk area, we are currently taking a pause to reflect on and recalculate our mask policy in an effort to continue offering accessible yoga classes for all. Until we have collectively decided on a policy that feels good for all teachers and clients, we will continue requiring a mask with hopes for an update in the first week of March. Updates will be sent via email to all subscribers.

March 28, 2022, Classes will be designated as Mask Required or Mask Optional. This designation will be clearly stated in the title of the class, no exceptions or refunds will be permitted if a client reserves by mistake.
